Stewed Fruit

In a small bowl put dried fruit and pour distill water over fruit and let stand overnight. The fruit will absorb the water and the fruit will be softened and plump up.

Place fruit and liquid in saucepan and heat on very low heat to simmer (if needed add more water) 

Serve in a small bowl and eat one hour before breakfast.                               

Stewed Fruit Without Sweetener

  • ¼ cup fresh or bottled apple juice

  • 12 dried apricot halves

  • 1 vanilla bean – split and scrapped

  • ¼ cup golden raisins

  • 8 pitted prunes


Place apple juice, vanilla seeds, and pod, fruit in a medium pot with 2 cups distilled water – simmer on low until liquid is reduced by ¾ serve warm in a small bowl one hour before breakfast. 

Pears-apricot Stewed Fruit in the Slow Cooker

  • 16 ounces pitted prunes

  • 8 ounces dried apricots

  • 8 ounces dried pears

  • 3 cups water (distilled optional)

  • ½ cup sugar (substitute maple syrup or honey)

  • ½ vanilla bean (split and scraped) or ½ t pure vanilla extract

  • 1 t lemon zest finely grated

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice


Combine all ingredients in slow cooker stir to blend, cover, and cook on low until fruit is tender about 6 to 8 hours.
